Seal of Lilith from Liber Lilith

  1. The left sigil is a quote from Job, I tried to search any source that reference Lilith in the context of this quote and couldn’t.
However, I recognize the one on the right, it’s a ward AGAINST LILITH. It doesn’t mention her at all, but the name of the three angels who tried to convince her to come back and submit to Adam and as punishment for her refusal forced her to become a baby eating demon, but if she sees their names she can’t get near the newborn or their mother. Using this sigil in to invoke Lilith is basically inviting a guest to your home only to curse them out and slam the door in their face.

    1. A couple of important notes here: Liber Lilith is a fiction book (and I’ve written about this issue elsewhere), but I include it in some of my library resources because so many of its symbols have made their way into nascent Western LHP occult circles. Also, while I’d agree with you on a praxis level about attempting to invoke Lilith using the names of angels historically thought to ward against her, this sort of approach was actually very common in the post-Christianization grimoire traditions. The traditional Goetia is basically the same sort of thing.

The Library section of my website is meant to be a list of sources that are significant to the record, not a list of sources I personally agree with in practice, which is why it is separate from my Articles and Blog section. Whether or not I agree with this form of invocation, or even that Liber Lilith is useful, both trains of thought are a significant part of both the historical and contemporary occult consciousness regarding Lilith and other demons, so they are included here.
